“Threshold” is a word I’ve come to appreciate more and more over the years.
It signals not just transition, but transformation — the moment when something in us quietly but unmistakably says:
I don't want to go on like this!
I know I am standing at one when three things align:
Maybe you recognize those signs too?
We know it isn’t about fixing the world around us.
It’s about reclaiming our own life-forward energy — the kind of emotional transformation that moves from the inside out.
The Irish poet John O’Donohue's story about "threashold" changed my appreciation for the word forever!
He explaied that in rural Irish cottages, long before hospitals or birthing beds, women would give birth at home. The strongest structure in the house? The front doorframe.
So the mother would lie on the floor, feet braced against the door.
The father held her from behind, offering presence.
And the midwife waited just outside — ready to catch new life as it crossed the threshold.
Real change is like that:
"Thresholds are sacred spaces—thin places—where the old world ends and the new has not yet begun, holding us in luminous suspension. To cross a threshold is to step into the mystery of the unknown, where our soul is invited to grow wings beyond what we once believed possible."
Thresholds are sacred. And deeply personal.
If you’re standing at one now — tired of waiting, unsure what’s next — I want you to know:
🔹You’re not alone.
🔹 The doorframe is strong.
🔹 You’re still welcome here.
P.S. If something in you is nearing a threshold, and you'd like to revisit this work or explore a new beginning, I’d be honored to meet you there. No pressure. Just presence.
