We've all heard the saying, "Into each life, some rain must fall." But what happens when that rain feels more like a never-ending downpour? Many of us find ourselves trapped in the quagmire of past negative experiences, unable to move forward.

From my personal experience, here's my practice to
and find my way back to the sunshine.

Life has a funny way of throwing curveballs when we least expect them. Take it from someone who recently had a week straight out of Alexander's terrible, horrible, no good, very bad day.
A simple morning walk turned into a painful fall, followed by a hospital visit and a small bowel blockage. It was a stark reminder that we're all vulnerable to life's unexpected twists.
But here's the thing: these experiences, as unpleasant as they are, don't define us. What defines us is how we choose to move forward.
Many of us get stuck in a cycle of self-criticism and judgment, thinking, "This shouldn't have happened to me." We fear losing control and facing the uncertainty of what might happen next. But clinging to this mindset only keeps us tethered to the past, unable to embrace the present or look forward to the future.

1. Set aside a dedicated time to process your "bitch and moan" emotions. Allow yourself to feel angry, upset, or frustrated. Suppressing these feelings often leads to depression.
2. Double that time and focus solely on gratitude. This shift can be challenging, but gratitude is a superpower with incredible healing properties.
3. Extract the lessons learned, then move on. Create what's next. Stop dwelling on the past or engaging with those who want to keep you there.
Remember, staying stuck in the past often stems from our fear of losing control again. We'd rather feel guilty or find someone to blame than admit our powerlessness over certain situations. But true freedom comes from accepting uncertainty and moving forward despite it.
As the AJR Brothers wisely sang:
"A hundred bad days made a hundred good stories.
A hundred good stories make me interesting at parties."
Your challenges, once overcome, become part of your unique story. They make you who you are – resilient, strong, and interesting.
